Question by trobop: How does a person learning japanese, find out meaning of words not in dictionary?
I don’t have japanese friends and i can’t make any. I live in the USA and i’ve been doing this project where i’m making vocabulary lists based on categories..i kind of took all the yahoo answers categories and then made more subcategories..Well so i come up with voicabulary or i search it in the web based on an english article about a certain topic. But sometimes i find english words and i can’t find their japanese word in a dictionary or in the web. So what can i do for this? Just not learn them?

The topics range from basic stuff to Difficult stuff, like i go for FILM.. and then in english there’s words like “Flickering( of frames)” or “Stock phrases( as when they advertise a movie and say SPECTACULAR, THRILLING)”. Yeah i’ve used internet encyclopedias that have english and japanese articles..but sometimes they don’t have many of the same words used in the english section or sometimes they don’t have the japanese articles at all. So is it just dumb for me to try to to find these

Question by Jason F: How would a crash in the Asian stock market affect the American stock exchange?

Best answer:

Answer by Thor
We have seen it with the “Asian contagion” when several countries in Asia crashed. We have seen it with the Japanese stock market crash that fell from 40,000 to less than 10,000.

It did have “some” effect but not all that great. Research those for a clue.

But now the recession is global. They are more sensitive to the US than the other way around. More than they wanted to admit. As recent as last fall they were still talking about the recession being a “US problem” and that they had “decoupled” from our economy.

For the most part the Asian markets, even Europe, tend to follow ours, not lead.
